Barcelona vs Real Sociedad

According to Barcelona and their fans, the match against Real Sociedad was just another game at their stadium Camp Nou. The red and blue striped outfit regained their number one position in the Spanish La Liga by clobbering their opponents 5-0 until the end of 90 minutes. Spanish sensation David Villa was the first one to trouble the scorers quite early into the game and midfield maestro Andreas Iniesta added to the lead in the 30th minute. After the commencing of the second half, Lionel Messi, as always was hungry to add to his goal tally and was successful as always, by scoring a brace. The final game came from substitute Bojan Krkic, one of Spain's hottest young prospects, which sealed three points for FC Barcelona.

It was not too long before  the scores changed, as David Villa latched on to a close range pass from fellow forward Pedro Rodriguez in the early 9th minute.

In the 14th minute, Real Sociedad initiated their first and very few out of all meaningful attacks in the game. This happened when Antoine Griezmann went down the left flank but his misplaced first touch disappointed the 19-year old French left winger.

Around 20 minutes, Barcelona could have increased their lead but Pedro could not finish properly in a team move involving Villa, Messi and Iniesta. Messi was inches away from scoring his first goal of the game, but his finish was cleared off the line by Chilean goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.

Barcelona managed to score in the 33rd minute of the game, when Iniesta slid in a shot at the near post after a fantastic one-two between the former and Pedro.

The Catalan giants were still working on improving their 2-0 lead when they scored just two minutes after the break. Messi finished from the right side of the penalty area after three one-twos between him and Brazilian right-back Daniel Alves.

With the assurance of three points, Barcelona did slow down but even that was too hot to handle for their opponents. Dominating in their attack, led to Barcelona's Bojan almost made Sociedad centre-back Ion Ansotegi put the ball into his own net and 9 minutes later Villa was denied an outstanding goal, as an opposition defender came in the way of his shot, to save Sociedad from further humiliation.

But they indeed got humiliated alas, when Lionel Messi scored his second goal of the match with a solo effort. Bojan made the final score 5-0 Barcelona, when he added to the final goal during injury time.

Following Sunday's results, Barcelona are in the No. 1 position in the Spanish La Liga table with forty points while Real Sociedad sit on the 8th position possessing 22 points.

Barcelona are set to take on Espanyol in their next encounter, next weekend. This match is tipped, by many experts, to be a nervy and exciting clash. Sociedad host Valencia on the same day.
